Paras Limestone
The pale carving stone of Indonesian architecture
Paras is the pale, fine-grained Indonesian limestone traditionally used for carved architectural work: relief panels, columns, temple detailing, entrance surrounds and decorative screens. Its softness relative to volcanic stone is exactly what makes carving possible.
In contemporary projects it is used flat as cladding and flooring in covered areas, and as carved or CNC-worked feature panels in hotels, villas and spas.
Because paras is softer than andesite or lava stone, we advise buyers on where it performs well and where a harder Indonesian stone is the better specification. Tell us the exposure and traffic and we will say so directly.

FAQ
Paras Limestone — questions buyers ask
Is paras suitable for exterior use?
It is used outdoors in Indonesia, typically in sheltered or covered positions. In severe exposure, freeze-thaw climates or heavy traffic we usually recommend andesite or lava stone instead and will tell you so when you send the application.
Can you carve to our drawing?
Yes. Send drawings, elevations or reference photographs and we will quote hand-carved or CNC-worked panels together with the flat material.
